Description
IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 IGF-1) is a modified form of insulin-like growth factor 1 with enhanced potency and extended half-life. The modifications prevent IGF binding protein interactions, increasing bioavailability.
Mechanism of Action
IGF-1 LR3 features a 13-amino acid N-terminal extension and an Arg-to-Glu substitution at position 3, dramatically reducing binding to IGF binding proteins. LR3IGF-I infusion stimulates organ growth while reducing plasma IGF binding protein concentrations (Conlon et al., 1995). This results in prolonged activity and enhanced anabolic effects, with LR3IGF-I capable of supporting cell growth at concentrations at least 200-fold lower than required for insulin (Frenkel et al., 2007).
